Sightseeing in Sakae-machi
Sakae-machi has many great site seeing places. We will introduce them individually
in detail below.
"Boso Fudoki no Oka" is located in the south east of sakae machi
and is covered with the rich green plants of the Hokuso Hills. There is
a museum with various antiquities unearthed in the Prefecture, such as
stone coffin, Haniwa Clay images, earthenwares, stonewares, shellworks,
agricultural and fishing tools.

the future generations of Japan. Houses and Stores from the latter period
of Edo to the early Maiji Era are reproduced here the visitors to experience
in porson the lifestyle of Edo and Meiji Era.

It is said that in year 709, a lady reagon appeared and built many halls
of the Ryukakuji temple in one night. It is said this 33meter tall temple
is one of the oldest in the Kanto district. The seated figure of the Yakushi
Trinity, namely, Yakushi Nyorai (An important national cultural property)
dates back to year 709, and is the oldest statue in Chiba prefecture.We
can also see the remains of some 110 ancient tombs, known as the Ryukakuji
Burial Mounds. These burial mounds vary in size and are spread over an
area 1 to 2km to the south of the templeThe stone in the picture is called
the "Stone of stability and immortality.

The Owashi shrine is famous for its divine guardian who protects women
to give birth to their babies safely. Also,, people hold a traditional
Japanese market called the "tori no ichi" mostly in December
of every year. In the shrine compounds, there is a special shrine named
Kosei-Daimyojin. It has an unique statue built with the shape of the mail
genital, and is enshrined as an object for people to worship. People believe
this statue to be a god of abundant harvest, matchmaking, gestation, easy
delivery and happy marriage.
Built in 1757, this Shinto (a Japanese religion) shrine was built in Ikkensha-nagare
style (Japanese traditional style) and has many outstanding sculptures.
In fall a festival called Hounouzumo (Sumo wrestling for children) is held
at the shrine.
A Shinto (a Japnaese religion) shrine built in 968. Shishimai (Iion dance)
is dedicated every year at the Shrine's spring festival. The worshipping
building was built during an unknown time period; therefore this building
is precious for its unique architectural style.
